As part of the development of a national microscopy facility being established through NCRIS, a number of "Linked Laboratories" and "Linked Centres" will be established.

This document provides an overview of the operation of these entities and a description of the method of application for selection as a "Linked Laboratory" or "Linked Centre".

Institutions who wish to be considered as a Linked Centre should send a formal expression of interest to the Professor Paul Munroe, Director - Electron Microscope Unit, University of New South Wales. This should be submitted electronically to p.munroe@unsw.edu.au by 5PM on Friday, September 22nd, 2006.

A Call for Proposals for the 'Materials World Networks' initiative, an funding opportunity initiated by US NSF to stimulate enhanced collaborations among materials science researchers and create networks linking individuals and centres in Australia and the USA.
