Funding Guidelines to Support Students and ECRs to Attend Already Established Conferences and Workshops in Australia
The ARC Australian Research Network for Advanced Materials aims to provide funding support for students and early career researchers (ECRs) to attend already well-established conferences and workshops in the area of materials science.
An ECR is a person who has completed their PhD in the last 5 years.
The application shall be submitted by conference organisers only. Any application submitted by an individual student/ECR will not be eligible for funding.
Applications will be assessed several times each year.
Applications will be assessed several times each year.
Application Closing Dates for 2009 are as follows:
- Friday, 6 March 2009
- Friday, 22 May 2009
- Friday, 7 August 2009
The funds may cover the following costs:
- a contribution towards airfares/travel
- a contribution towards the cost of accommodation
- a contribution towards meals (living allowance)
- a contribution towards registration fees
Organisers will have to provide details on the conference/workshop: dates, venue, conference/workshop history, nature of conference (research area/topic to be addressed), preliminary program, expected audience size.
Organisers will have to provide a statement on the number of registrants who were students and ECRs who attended the same conference/symposium/workshop in previous years and expected numbers for the forthcoming event. There needs to be clear demonstration that the ARNAM funding will increase the student/ECR participation. The benefits to materials ECR/students that attendance at the event will provide also need to be articulated in the application.
Organisers will need to provide summary details of projected costs.
Organisers will need to indicate how the money will be spent and for what purpose.
At the end of the conference/workshop, within a month of conclusion, a report needs to be submitted which includes the names of students/ECRs who attended. These students should already be members or should become members of ARNAM.
