First Announcement and Call for Papers
The ARC Australian Research Network for Advanced materials (ARNAM) will hold its main 2006 annual event in Brisbane. The format for the workshop will be a mix of plenary talks by experts in the focus materials areas of the network and oral presentations, principally by early career researchers (ECRs) and research students.
Apart from the plenary session, the oral presentations will be divided into 4 parallel sessions in the following areas:
- Materials drivers for high-tech IT, communications and sensor applications
- Innovative structural and functional materials for diverse applications
- Materials solutions for advanced manufacturing
- Materials for a sustainable Australia
Each focus area will have a key organiser and a small committee that will select plenary speakers (roughly 2 per area) and organise the program.
Titles and short (50 word) abstracts should be submitted on line at Materials.com.au.
It is expected that ARNAM will cover almost all local conference expenses for participants staying at St Johns College, including accommodation. A nominal administration fee will apply in lieu of a registration fee.
It is expected that contributed papers will be presented by ECRs/research students.
In addition, travel grants to the annual workshop will be available to selected ECRs and research students who are presenting at the event. We are targeting for around 140 - 150 participants.
